WEYBURN – Four Weyburn football players and two coaches, Rob Umbach and Kyle Paterson, traveled to Las Vegas with the Saskatchewan Selects program last week to take part in their pigskin classic tournament.

Joining players from across Saskatchewan, they combined to form three teams to compete in their respective age groups, U13, U14, U15. The coaches from Weyburn helped to coach all three age group teams for the tournament.

The Weyburn players, Tiki Umbach, Owen Istace, Alex Junk and Conner Kerr, played on the U15 team. They played a team from the Las Vegas area in their first game and then a team from Kansas City. Winning both, they came home as tournament champions.

Conner Kerr and Alex Junk also played on the U14 team who played a team from California in their first game and a team from Alaska in their second game.

They won the first game quite easily, but the second game went to overtime and the Sask team won 17-14, making them tournament champions in their category.
