Weyburn Gold Wings drop pair of games to Regina Rebels

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Gold Wings hosted the Regina Rebels for two home games at Crescent Point Place over the weekend.

WEYBURN – The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Gold Wings hosted the Regina Rebels for two home games at Crescent Point Place, and took losses by scores of 9-2 on Saturday, and 9-1 on Sunday.

In Saturday’s game, the Gold Wings’ Kaydance Ray scored on the power play to open the scoring for the game, assisted by Julia Durr and Maicy Groenewegen.

The Rebels answered with three goals in the first period and one more in the second before the Gold Wings scored their second goal.

Hallie Parada scored from Ayla Klus and Adison Warren. Regina scored seven seconds later, and added two more in the period, before scoring twice more in the third period.

Amy Swayze was in net for the full game, making 37 saves on 46 shots on goal.

On Sunday, the lone goal for the Gold Wings was a power play marker in the third period, scored by Victoria Mann with the assist by Hadley Revenko.

Hailey Sibbald was in net for this game, making 43 saves on 52 shots.

The Gold Wings will host Saskatoon for two home games this coming weekend, as they play on Saturday, Feb. 24, and Sunday, Feb. 25, both days at 2 p.m. at Crescent Point Place.
