Weyburn Red Wings blanked in home match with Klippers

Two make-up games coming up this week

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Red Wings hosted the Kindersley Klippers on Friday night, and were blanked 4-0, in spite of a number of close chances for a goal. The Wings were fresh off a two-game loss in Kindersley, where they lost 4-1 on Tuesday, and 4-3 on Wednesday.

The Klippers scored in the first period, and there was no more scoring until the third period when the visitors scored three more unanswered goals.

The third period was also where the Wings got into penalty trouble, including game misconducts for fighting to Ty Mason and checking from behind to Ethan Whillans, and a 10-minute misconduct for a hit to the head to Nicholas Kovacs.

Jackson Fellner was in goal for the full 60 minutes, and made 27 saves on 31 shots.

The Red Wings will be on the road for a number of games, including visiting Yorkton on Monday, Jan. 24, and in Estevan on Wednesday night to make up for one of the cancelled games over New Year’s.

They visit Humboldt on Saturday, Jan. 29, and their next home game will be on Tuesday, Feb. 1 when they host the Nipawin Hawks.
