Weyburn Red Wings edge out Money Men in home weekend game

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings edged out the visiting Melville Millionaires 2-1 on Saturday night in SJHL action

WEYBURN – The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings edged out the visiting Melville Millionaires 2-1 on Saturday night in SJHL action, in a tight home game that saw all of the scoring in the first period.

Riley See scored at 7:13 with an assist by Dallen Oxelgren.

The Money Men tied the game at 15:21 when Noah Wills scored, assisted by Kayden Skulmoski and Zach Cain.

Weyburn regained the lead about 30 seconds later, when Simon Pollock shot the puck into the net with assists by Braigh LeGrandeur and Ethan Whillans.

Dazza Mitchell was in net for the Red Wings, making 27 saves on 28 shots. Neither team was able to score on the powerplay.

The night before, Weyburn was in Estevan and were edged out 3-2 by the Bruins. Weyburn's Jackson Hassman scored midway through the first, and Matthew Reidy tied the game late in the frame with a pretty goal in tight. The Red Wings were back in Estevan on Sunday night for a second match in three days.
