Weyburn senior girls host home volleyball tournament

The WCS Senior A Girls Volleyball team hosted their home tournament and ended in fourth place overall

WEYBURN – The WCS Senior A Girls Volleyball team hosted their home tournament over the weekend, with 10 teams competing.

The Eagles finished first in their pool with a 25-20, 25-23 victory over Arcola; 23-25, 25-22 victory over Yorkton; wins of 25-16 and 25-10 over Lumsden, and a 25-21, 21-25 tie against Moose Jaw Central.

The Eagles moved into the championship pool on Saturday. The Eagles battled against Estevan with scores of 23-25 and 21-25.

Against Vanier, they had scores of 17-25, 25-17 and 7-15, and versus Swift Current scores of 22-25 and 18-25. Swift Current won the tournament with the Eagles finishing fourth.

The Eagles have four returning players: Camryn Greve, Sophia Jordens, Amryn King and Ella Morken.

New to the Eagles this year are Kali Field, Bree Hagen, Faith Magawa, Katherine Balog, Keighley Buss, Nicole Malana, Emily Marcotte and Anna Tronson.

The senior girls and boys volleyball teams will play the annual home-and-home Co-op Challenge vs Estevan on Oct. 5 and 12.
