Weyburn skaters compete at Jean Norman tourney

Several skaters from the Weyburn Skating Club recently competed at the 2011 SaskTel Jean Norman competition. There were 12 medals won by competitors, with four bronze, seven silver and two gold.



Several skaters from the Weyburn Skating Club recently competed at the 2011 SaskTel Jean Norman competition. There were 12 medals won by competitors, with four bronze, seven silver and two gold.

In the introductory men elements, Macgregor Benning won second. In the introductory women elements Haillie Bourassa placed fifth in flight five; Emma Fletcher took fifth in flight one; Mikaila Mahnke placed seven in flight seven; Tori Mahnke won fifth in flight three; Alyssa Romanovitch placed fourth in flight four; Brynn Romanovitch won first in flight one; Payton Spencer placed second in flight six; and Kylie Van De Woestyne took second in flight two.

In introductory women's freeskate, Emma Fletcher won fourth in flight two; Jamie Labbie took second in flight one; Alyssa Romanovitch placed sixth in flight five; Mikaila Mahnke won second in flight seven; Payton Spencer finished third in flight six; and Kylie Van De Woestyne finished third in flight three.

For pre-preliminary skating, Lorynn Labbie won fourth in women's elements flight two and sixth in freeskate flight six; and Sydney Spencer placed fifth in women's elements flight one and freeskate flight two.

Competing in the preliminary women's skating competitions, Anneliese Benning won second in elements flight two and fourth for freeskate flight eight, Ashley Cleveland finished fourth in elements flight eight and sixth in freeskate flight six; Taylor Forseth-Hala won third in elements flight nine and sixth in freeskate flight seven; Carley Evans took first in elements flight three and second in freeskate flight; and Krista Smith won fourth in elements flight four and eighth in elements flight one.

Brooke Erickson placed fifth in senior bronze women's elements flight two; Shelby Van De Woestyne finished second in introductory women's interpretive flight two; and Brianne Wlasichuk won third in introductory women's interpretive flight five.
