Weyburn Skating Club hosts 2023 Winter Classic

The Weyburn Skating Club hosted the 2023 Winter Classic provincial competition over the weekend in the two arenas, with over 275 figure skaters.

WEYBURN – The Weyburn Skating Club hosted the 2023 Winter Classic provincial competition over the weekend in the two arenas, with over 275 figure skaters from all over Saskatchewan attending.

Braxton Pouteaux placed first and is the Star 5 Women’s 13 and Over Champion. She also placed second in Star 5 elements, flight 3. 

Katie Swayze competed in Star 4 ladies FS, flight 3 and placed seventh. She also competed in Star 3 elements and achieved a silver medal.

Nessa Goodfellow competed in Star 4 ladies FS, flight 3 and placed fourth. She competed in Star 3 ladies elements and achieved a silver. Sophie Walkeden competed in Star 4 ladies FS, flight 5 and placed seventh. She also competed in Star 3 elements and achieved a silver.

Lauren Yoner, Claire Walkeden and Clare Crooks competed in Star 2 ladies FS and elements. They all ended up with a bronze in both disciplines. 

“It was an honour and privilege to host an event of this calibre in Weyburn, and could not have been done without the dedication of the Weyburn Skating Club Board and our amazing parent volunteers,” said Terilyn Schroeder, administrator for the Weyburn Skating Club.
