Cheers and Jeers for August 2

Cheers: Cheers to Josh LeBlanc, the committee members, the volunteers and everyone else who was involved with the Rafferty Rumble this past weekend. It was a fantastic weekend for Estevan and it brought a lot of people to the community.

Cheers to Josh LeBlanc, the committee members, the volunteers and everyone else who was involved with the Rafferty Rumble this past weekend. It was a fantastic weekend for Estevan and it brought a lot of people to the community.

Cheers to the Estevan Golden Eels swim club for winning the gold medal at the provincial swim meet in Rosetown. The swimmers were rewarded for their efforts throughout the season.

Cheers to the Orpheum Theatre for showing Unplanned. It is a very educational movie based on a true story.

Cheers to Cole Fonstad and Brayden Pachal for bringing the Western Hockey League trophies to Estevan on the weekend, and inspiring local youths by showing them what kids from Estevan can do.

Cheers to the Estevan Mercury and Power Dodge for running the Pop in to Win contest, and encouraging people to shop locally through the contest.

Jeers:

Jeers to the people who were complaining about the Rafferty Rumble, whether it be the noise from the concerts, the road closures or the gate admission fee. It was one of the best events in Estevan for a long time.

Jeers to people who complain on the Internet without all of the facts, or who don’t do their research before posting an opinion.

Jeers to those who say there’s nothing to do in Estevan. If the activities in the city in July have proven anything, it’s that there’s plenty to do for people of all ages.

Jeers to cyclists who think that the rules of the road don’t apply to them. They put themselves at risk and create hazards for motorists and pedestrians.
