More or Less: Ode to ‘To and Fro’

WEYBURN - We have all heard the expression “life’s too short”. I was reminded again of the brevity of life when I received the news last weekend that a former coworker had passed away.

Twenty-seven years ago, after nearly a decade of living in Vancouver, I came back home to Weyburn and started my career at the newspaper.

Our editor at the time, Glenn Froh, became not only a friend, but a mentor. His love of writing and word play was evident and we had many conversations about grammar, much to my delight.

The news of Glenn’s passing last Thursday has hit me hard. I missed his last visit to the office a few weeks ago. It was always a pleasure to visit with him over the years, whenever he would stop in to see us.

Glenn wrote for both the Weyburn Review and Weyburn This Week. Many readers will remember his weekly column ‘To and Fro’.

I feel blessed to have worked with Glenn. His influence shaped me in my early years at the paper. His patience and humour made every work day a pleasure.

Rest In Peace, my friend.
