Retarder brakes law needed

The Editor,

My family recently moved from a large city to the small city of Estevan and have enjoyed many aspects to Estevan.

The biggest plus this city has is how friendly everyone has been. Unfortunately there are many aspects that are negative to the city, like any city/town, and should be addressed soon before they are too hard or expensive to correct.

There is one issue that I am really confused as to why it has not been implemented as of yet, in this day and age. The simple use of "engine retarder brakes" within our city limits.

Many smaller towns have signs up to indicate that this is illegal. And yet, with all the traffic of large trucks going through Estevan, this is not so here.

I feel that any local citizen would welcome the sign to be erected at our city limits. Then the city can ticket the trucks that don't follow the regulations and the sign can be paid for in no time. This simple bylaw would benefit anyone close to the highway, especially the hospital. There is enough noise with the numerous trains going through our fine town.
