Stop the federal scams and show Sask. the money

Just a few things bothering me this week. The first one is the fact we're in the dead of winter right now. Not much anybody can do about that, so we'll skip that topic. Let's just say this one thing about the weather though.

Just a few things bothering me this week.

The first one is the fact we're in the dead of winter right now. Not much anybody can do about that, so we'll skip that topic.
Let's just say this one thing about the weather though. Probably for the first time in its history, south Saskatchewan could end up with an avalanche region.

Another concern is the distinct possibility that Saskatchewan won't receive any federal dollars for a new sports venue in Regina. The only chance we have of getting fed funding for a sports facility is if we apply for the Olympic Games. So why don't we apply for the Olympic Games? Or the World Cup, or at least the FIFA Under 20 World Cup, or the Pan-Am indoor kayak and canoe races?

Naturally the feds are conveniently forgetting that our Canadian public dollars did find their way into that domed stadium in Toronto, but then it's Toronto, isn't it. They're special.

I'm concerned about how Estevan organizations go about naming themselves.

I mean really the Estevan and Area Board of Tourism, Trade and Commerce? That one really rolls off the tongue, don't it! About as easily as the Souris Valley Aquatic and Leisure Centre, home of Spectra Place.

Then we have Woodlawn Regional Park, soon to be Woodlawn and Boundary Dam Regional Park.

I'm concerned about Senator Raymond Lavigne of Montreal who has milked (some might say bilked) the public purse out of an annual stipend of $132,000 for the past two years, even though he isn't a real senator now, having been expelled and everything.

In the past three months, he's spent an additional $30,000 of taxpayer money on travel and meals and other expenses, even though he isn't a real senator because of fraud and breach of trust issues. He's taken $153,000 for office budget items and hospitality events, even though he isn't a real senator.

And we let him do that.

OK, Pammy Wallin, our own senator spent $33,000 on travel outside her constituency of Saskatchewan, but she's a regular senator, so she's allowed a little extra extravagance.

Mr. Lavigne is putting a new face on political scamming and he's helping us forget the old Quebec political advertising and promotion scam that led to an inquiry that also cost a few million that resulted in nothing being done.
And our politicians wonder why more of us don't vote?

That's like Somalian pirates wondering why cruise ships don't sail past the eastern side of Africa.

As we said last week, if the federal government wanted to really get tough on crime they would abolish the Senate, not add 37 recruits like that Harper boy did.

Abolish it or fix it I say. The senatorial scamming has to end.

I took a bottle of water from the S.E. Cornerstone School Division head office last Thursday, so mea culpa there. I scammed the public purse. I have no idea how much a 590 ml bottle of water costs because I never buy that stuff. I have a water tap. But in this instance, I took it, so I've abused the system too, I guess. I just have this to say to Cornerstone hey run your business for the rest of the year and if you come up a couple of bucks short at the end get in touch.
And that's all I have to say about that this week.
