I remember the tedious task in elementary school every year when October rolled around of writing a list of things I was thankful for.

As long as there's still a glimmer of hope, there's no use in examining where this 2011 season for the Saskatchewan Roughriders went so horribly wrong. But we're getting close to that point.

The problem with spending days upon days putting together a preview of the SJHL, and even predictions, is that your work inevitably makes you look dim-witted before the season is a month old.

Sometimes the significance of what is going on right in our back yard is lost within the general population.

So much is new on the eve of the 2011-12 National Hockey League season that the league should consider adding an initial: The NNHL - the New National Hockey League.

That appears to be the case with the Saskatchewan Roughriders who, according to "new" head coach Ken Miller, hit rock bottom in August in Toronto with a 24-18 loss to the Argos which dropped their record to a league-worst 1-7.
