Weyburn stage was jumping with performance of Oklahoma musical

A cast of over 60 performers had the audience on their feet at the end of the Weyburn production of the classic stage musical, Oklahoma!

WEYBURN – A cast of over 60 performers had the audience on their feet for a standing ovation at the end on the first night of performance for the Weyburn production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic stage musical, Oklahoma!, directed by Colleen Weimer.

A dinner theatre was part of the deal on opening night, with a full house, served up by most of the actors in character in the Upper Grace Hall before the audience moved into Grace United Church's main auditorium for the play.

As a bonus, two of the chorus members, Lorne Klein and Richard Wick, performed for the supper crowd. Klein did a demonstration of roping, while Wick sang with his guitar the "new" song, "Home on the Range".

The musical was accompanied by Weimer and Brayden Jensen on a pair of grand pianos, with lots of singing of solos, small groups, and large musical numbers such as to the title song of "Oklahoma!"

There are two more nights of performances to come, on Saturday and Sunday, March 4 and 5, at 7 p.m. each night.
