Three times on the same day, in conversations with three different people in three different towns, this phrase came up: “This downturn is like the 80s.” And that, my friends, is really not a good thing.

In mid-August, if your truck ran on gasoline instead of diesel, you were in for a shock. Gasoline prices at the pump in Saskatchewan spiked 16 cents in a day.
