After a short battle with cancer, Helen Mary Wallace, late of Weyburn, SK passed away peacefully on January 11, 2018, at the age of 89 years. Helen was born on a farm near Wilcox on August 25, 1928. She was predeceased by her parents: Charles and Emma Jackson; her husband of 59 years, James Wallace; daughter-in-law Jane Wallace; son-in-law Gary Mowrey. Helen is survived by her children: Jerry Wallace, Olds, AB and family: Tyler (Lisa) Wallace, Erin Wallace (Alex), Jason Wallace (Tara); Joanne Mowrey, Weyburn, SK and her family: Mark Mowrey (Tammy) and family [Tyler and Carlie], Todd Mowrey and his children: Ryder, Carys, and Grayden; siblings: Clarence (Shirley) Jackson, Grace Ravndal, Florence (Jack) Horton; as well as several nieces and nephews. Helen and Jim were married on a cold January day in 1948. They started their married life farming near Lang, SK. It was here Jerry was born, Joanne was born after they moved into Lang. A few years later Jim took on a job at the Milestone Co-op, so they then moved to Milestone. Helen worked in the grocery business there, she started at the L&B Store, and when the Co-op started a grocery store she moved on to there. She remained there until retirement. Helen curled in earlier years, but golfing became her passion, she could never wait till spring arrived so she could get back on the course, and of course get the garden and flowers planted too, her flowers were beautiful! She golfed right up till her last summer at 89 years old. She will be so missed by her family and friends, she was one great Mom, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. The family would like to thank all Mom’s caregivers at the Weyburn General Hospital, Dr. Mary McCollam, and her Palliative Care nurse, our angel, Jenny who helped us along the way. Also a big thanks to all that were part of Mom’s service: Rick, at RD Family Funeral Chapel, Judy Beck, Patricia Moon, and Adele Schmidt. Thank you all. A Service of Remembrance for Helen was held Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, SK with Judy Beck, Funeral Celebrant. A luncheon was held at Wheatland Senior Centre, 888 -1st Avenue, Weyburn, SK. Interment will be held at a later date at the Milestone Cemetery, Milestone, SK.
