John Joseph Kaufmann

John Joseph Kaufmann passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Regina, Saskatchewan at the age of 77 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Victoria Kaufmann, daughters, Jacqueline Ann Kaufmann and Kristine Denise Kaufmann; mother and father in law, Lorenz and Anne Kaip; brothers Mike (Ruby) Kaufmann and Ernie Kaufmann and brother in law, Peter Froh. John was born March 26, 1940 and raised near Pangman, Saskatchewan on the family farm with one sister and three brothers, being the youngest in the family. He attended school in Khedive, Saskatchewan. Later he attended the School of Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan and then began farming with his dad on the family farm. John married Katherine (Kathy) Kaip in Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church, Pangman, Saskatchewan on September 16, 1961. John would eventually take over and continued farming for the next 50 years. John loved music and played the guitar and sang. He belonged to a band with local high school students called the Starlighters. They enjoyed playing their music in numerous towns in southern Saskatchewan. John had other interests, he enjoyed going on winter holidays, fishing and making home movies, to name a few. John was very involved with the Pangman Kinsmen Club raising funds for and eventually building the community swimming pool. He also sat on the school board and the Co-op board. His faith community was also important to him, he was baptized, confirmed and married in Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church and sang in the choir for many years. John and Kathy enjoyed some special trips together. They went to Europe to visit the places where their parents had originated from, cruised through the Panama Canal with his brother Bill and wife Gloria, took annual fishing trips to northern Saskatchewan with special friends and took many family road trips through Canada and the United States. John courageously battled heart problems since a youth, underwent three open heart surgeries and numerous pacemaker implants. He was a stern but loving father who raised four children, loving husband, and excellent horticulturist even with the demands of two special needs children. John will be loving remembered by his wife of 56 years, Kathy Kaufmann of Pangman, SK; son, Bruce Kaufmann of Regina, SK; son, Allan Kaufmann of Swift Current, SK; and his children, Dillan, Aaren and Emilly and their mother, Barb Kaufmann; son, Todd (Cindy) Kaufmann of Nanaimo, BC and their children, Abigail, Nicholas & Jacqueline; brother, Bill (Gloria) Kaufmann; sister, Evelyn Froh; brothers and sisters in law, Margaret (Max) Kesslering, Amy (Buford) Walker, Caroline (Carl) Kesslering, and Janet (Don) Prentice as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives cousins and friends. Prayers were said on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church, Pangman, Saskatchewan with Father Thuy Nguyen presiding. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, Saskatchewan with Father Francis Plaparampil and Father Thuy Nguyen celebrating. Interment followed at Khedive Cemtery, Khedive, Saskatchewan. Pallbearers were Greg Prentice, Bill Kaufmann Jr., Dale Kaufmann, Glen Froh, Darryl Kesslering and Tim Kesslering.
