Muriel “Helen” Couvrette passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the age of 91 years. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Eileen Fellows; first husband, Neil Gloin; second husband, Lou Couvrette; sister, Marion Austin and brother, James Fellows. Helen was born on May 23, 1926 to John and Eileen at Goderich, Ontario. She was married to Neil Gloin from 1951 to 1965 and married Louis Couvrette in 1976. Helen worked at several different occupations, in the civil services as an elections officer and as a postmaster. She also lived in a variety of locations, besides Weyburn she lived in Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan, Fort Franklin, Northwest Territories, Igloolik, Nunavut, Chesterfiled, Nunavut and Moose Factory, Ontario. In her leisure time she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and writing. Helen’s greatest joy was her cat Marmalade, her flower beds when she had them and to tell stories about her life in the Arctic. The family of Helen wishes to thank the staff and residents at Crocus Plains Villa for the wonderful care she received and Fletcher Funeral Chapel for their compassion and kindness at this time. Special thanks to the Royal Canadian Legion for the wonderful services provided. Helen was predeceased by her parents, Eileen and John Fellows; her first husband, Neil Gloin; second husband, Lou Couvrette; sister, Marion Austin and brother, James Fellows. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Eileen (Charles) Baker; brother, John Fellows; daughter, Jennie (Zane) Brown of London, ON; son, James Gloin of Pembrook, ON; daughter, Kerry (Don) Machin of Weyburn, SK; son, Michael (Helena) Couvrette of Fort Smith, NT; six grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Come & Go Celebration of Helen’s Life was held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 47, Weyburn, Saskatchewan. A Private Family Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Helen may be made to the Weyburn & District Hospital Foundation at Box 1416, Weyburn, Saskatchewan, S4H 3J9.
