Roy Paul Sidloski

Roy Paul Sidloski, late of Weyburn, SK, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the age of 85 years. Roy was predeceased by his parents, Gabriel and Maria (Frankow) Sidloski; his sons Delmar (1957) and Arin Michael (1976); his brother Andrew Sidloski; and his sisters Jennie (Cliff) Stewart and Vera (Vic) Tremblay. Roy was born on March 31, 1932 in Weyburn, SK to Gabriel and Maria (Frankow) Sidloski, the fifth of seven children.  Roy had a difficult life as a child, losing his mother at the age of seven. He grew up farming, milking cows and driving a team of horses whether for farming, delivering milk, or to get siblings and himself to school.  He attended school in Weyburn until Grade 10 when he was needed full time on the farm. Roy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and neighbor. Coming from very humble beginnings, he built a life for himself and his family that was full of hard work, fun times, and love. He married his one true love, Rita Nimegeers, on July 4, 1955 and went on to build his home where he and Rita would live together and raise their family for the next 62 years. The bare piece of land that he purchased became a large cattle and grain farming operation that continued to be his proud accomplishment through-out his life...all while raising a family of 17 children. He was known to his neighbors, family and friends as someone who would always be there to help, whether it was fixing equipment, working with cattle, or helping with household repairs and renovations. He was an accomplished carpenter, plumber, electrician, veterinarian and cook. He was truly a man who could do anything, and if he didn’t know how to do it he would figure it out. Roy also found time for leisure. He loved playing cards, getting together for family reunions and just spending time with family and friends. He will always be remembered for his unique joke telling ability as well as his love for practical jokes with his friends and neighbors. He had a true zest for life that was evident in all he did. Roy’s last few years were wrought with health issues, which were met with courage and without self-pity. Roy leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years Rita and their 15 children; Darcy (Devora) Sidloski, Melany (Dave) Mazenc, Marty (Moree) Sidloski, Donya Epp, Tim (Ann) Sidloski, Marnel (Mike) Spencer, Korene (David) Boehm, Twyla Bellefleur (Darcy Bell), Ryan Sidloski, Calinda (Barclay) Charlton, Rocky (Wendy) Sidloski, Troy (Kellie) Sidloski, Kendra (Gary) Garbe, Kern (Kara) Sidloski, Dalyn Sidloski; his 39 grandchildren; his 9 great grandchildren; his brothers Alex and John (Beatrice) Sidloski and his sister Tory (Ron) Metheral. Roy’s family wish to give special thanks to the staff at Tatagwa View Health Centre who took such good care of Dad and always treated him with dignity and compassion as well as the staff at RD Family Funeral Chapel for helping the family with funeral arrangements in such a caring manner. Prayers for Roy were held Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 7:00pm from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, SK.  Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, October 26, 2017 from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church with Fr.
