Programs available for all ages in March at the Weyburn library

Looking ahead to the spring book sale and art auction, donations for both will be accepted after April 1.

The Weyburn Public Library has a range of activities and programs for all ages in December.

WEYBURN - The Weyburn Public Library has lined up a variety of programs and activities for all age levels in the month of March.

There are programs for children aged six to eight, and for tweens aged nine to 12.

An introduction to karate will be available for both groups with sensei Owen, on Thursday, March 7 at 6 p.m. for the six to eight-year-olds, and at 7 p.m. for those aged nine to 12.

A marble run and “Code and Go Mouse” will be on Tuesday, March 12 for the junior age group, and on March 11 for the tweens; the juniors will learn to make mini Koolaid pie and slushies on Thursday, March 14 at 6 p.m., and the tweens are at 7 p.m.

A cooking class to make sesame chicken and rice will be held for the junior on Tuesday, March 26, and for the tweens, on Monday, March 25.

For Lego fans of all ages, they can make balloon-powered cars and trucks on Saturday, March 9 at 2 p.m.

For teens, there is a “Kitchen Chemistry” cooking class today, March 6 at 6 p.m. to make beef totchos, and they can make St. Patrick’s Day snacks and drinks on Friday, March 15 at 4 p.m.

A “Cookies and Crime” class, making cookies and listening to a true crime podcast, will be held on Tuesday, March 19 at 6 p.m.

“Pi day” will be held on March 13 at 4 p.m., where they can learn how to make no-bake pies.

Adults can take a clas in mandala painting on Thursday, March 7 at 2 p.m., or paired painting on Monday, March 18 at 6:30 p.m.

A songwriting workshop with Dan Cugnet will be held tonight, March 6, and on March 13, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. each night.

The adult book club will meet on Thursday, March 14 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the book, “Washington Black” by Esi Edugyan, and a class in screenwriting will be held on Thursday, March 21 at 6:30 p.m.

There will be a class in making dumplings with Dawn Silver on Saturday, March 16 at 2:30 p.m.

Looking ahead to the spring book sale and art auction, donations for both will be accepted after April 1.

The book sale will be held on April 18-20, and for the art auction, the library is looking for any donations of art work. The works will be for sale during the book sale.

The proceeds from the book and art sale will go towards library programming.
