The Southern Rebels Junior Hockey Club picked winners for the 29th annual Smiles Per Mile Lotto at a recent home game on February 1, and the Southland Co-op administration staff won the 50/50 draw worth $17,947.50.

Kylie Gavelin of Mankota and her teammates on the Canadian women’s hockey team competed in the gold-medal final at the 28th Winter Universiade in Almaty, Kazakhstan on February 6. Canada faced Russia in a re-match of last year’s loss.

Toes were tapping at the performance by the Twin Fiddles on February 2 at the Shurniak Art Gallery in Assiniboia. It was one of two stops in the area, with the other stop including Lafleche.
