It's been one of those "mixed emotion" weeks. Sitting with family to watch our eldest granddaughter cross the stage and receive her Grade 12 graduation certificate, I couldn't help but reflect on what had transpired over the years.

If you notice lots of light aircraft over Carlyle on June 26, the reason is the hosting of the annual Fly-In Breakfast at the airport.

The buzz in our lives

Summer is in the air at Carlyle Elementary Community School. Classes have been able to take in many different field trips this year because of the South East Connection's youth experience program.

Back when I was growing up, if you got out an encyclopaedia and looked in Volume 6, EAS - ELK, you would find my Dad's picture under the entry for "Easy Mark".

A man with a hang-over falls asleep during the Sunday homily. The priest says to his congregation, "All those wishing to have a place in heaven, please stand." Everyone stands up but the sleeping man.

This year will be the ninth year of Drive for a Cure in Carlyle. The annual event is scheduled for June 18 with an anticipated 24 teams and 96 golfers expected to take over the Carlyle Golf Club.

One might think that the Saskatchewan Party government would be pretty much immune from most criticism of its handling of key issues in rural life.

Speaking with provincial competitors Autumn Barta and Wendy Bax is enough to make anyone want to hit the gym. Hearing about their experiences and their successes is a real motivator.

Yesterday was a gorgeous day. The sun came out and we had blue sky over Wawota with temperatures up in the 20s.
