Air quality warning issued in southeast Saskatchewan

SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN — An air quality warning is in effect for southeast Saskatchewan. 

According to Environment Canada, smoke is causing poor air quality and reduced visibility over southeast Saskatchewan on July 30.

"Air quality and visibility due to wildfire smoke can fluctuate over short distances and can vary considerably from hour to hour," the warning states. 

People more likely to be impacted by wildfire smoke, including people ages 65 and older; infants, young children and pregnant women; people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors should avoid strenuous activities when outside and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

A total of 28 RMs, and the communities within those RMs, are covered by the warning. Estevan, Weyburn and Carlyle are among the affected urban municipalities.
