Bienfait man facing further charges after escape from custody

The individual was in police custody because of charges including possession of property obtained by crime and resisting a police officer.

The Estevan RCMP has released more details about a recent incident.

ESTEVAN - The Saskatchewan RCMP has released more details regarding an individual who escaped from police custody in Estevan on Sept. 13. 

According to information released by the Saskatchewan RCMP on Friday afternoon, the man was in police custody because he was facing charges, including possession of property obtained by crime and resisting a police officer, related to an incident in Bienfait on Sept. 11. 

He fled on foot from St. Joseph's Hospital. Officers from the Estevan RCMP immediately began looking for him with assistance from the Estevan Police Service. He was located in a shed on a nearby property approximately 20-25 minutes later.

Three Estevan schools - Pleasantdale School, Westview School and Sacred Heart School/École Sacré Coeur - went into hold and secure briefly on Friday afternoon.
