CARLYLE — The Carlyle Fire and Rescue Service recently expressed its thanks to the RM No. 2 and Carnduff Fire and Rescue department for some support.
The Carlyle crew presented a cheque for $25,000 to its counterparts from the Carnduff department.
In a post on its Facebook page, the Carlyle department noted its wildland fire truck has been up north, helping fight fires, for about four weeks. The department said it is thankful to other units like the those from Carnduff and the RM of Swift Current No. 137 Fire Department as they have manned the truck so the Carlyle crew could take a break.
The Carnduff department wrote on Facebook that plans are in the works to develop a fire training facility "in the very near future" and this donation will be a boost in getting the project underway.
Three more firefighters from the Carlyle area recently went up north.
"Thank you to our members Brent Stillwell and Zane Vanderhulst for taking time to head up north once again," the Carlyle Fire Rescue Service said in a Facebook post.
Brayden Rowley with the Manor and RM 63 Fire Department is also now up north.
"These members are putting in 12-14 hour days in not great conditions. We are proud of your bravery and commitment to always helping others," the Carlyle department said.
