ESTEVAN — Estevan Fire Rescue (EFR) responded to several incidents last week, including a structure fire and a two-vehicle collision, with no injuries reported.
On Aug. 25, just before 8 a.m., EFR was dispatched to a two-vehicle motor collision in the southeast area of the city. Crews assisted alongside Estevan Police Service and EMS. One vehicle required towing, but no injuries were reported.
The next day, at 12:45 p.m., crews responded to a field fire northeast of Estevan in the R.M. of Estevan. The fire, believed to have started during haying operations, was contained and extinguished without incident, and no damages or injuries were reported.
Later on Aug. 26, around 3:30 p.m., EFR attended a commercial fire alarm in the northeast area of the city. Investigation determined no emergency was occurring, and the alarm was triggered by system maintenance.
On Aug. 27, just after 10:30 a.m., crews extinguished a dumpster fire at a commercial property in the northeast area. The fire was contained to the dumpster, caused by improper disposal of combustible materials, and no injuries were reported.
On Aug. 29, just after 11 a.m., EFR was dispatched to a structure fire in the northwest area of the city. Crews quickly contained the fire, which caused damage to mechanical appliances but no structural damage or injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Later that evening, just after 7 p.m., crews responded to a gas odor investigation in the northeast area. Maintenance work at a commercial building was releasing small amounts of gas. EFR ensured the building was safe and properly ventilated before clearing the scene.
On Aug. 30, just before 8:30 p.m., EFR attended a commercial fire alarm south of the city. Investigation revealed a faulty alarm system and no emergency was present.
