ESTEVAN — An electrical hazard, a tractor fire and other calls were part of the past week for the Estevan Fire Rescue Service (EFRS).
Crews were called to an electrical hazard July 9 in north Estevan. Deputy Fire Chief Kyle Luc said crews arrived and secured the scene until SaskPower showed up. Once power was disconnected, Luc said the fire had self extinguished and all crews returned to the station.
The following day, crews were dispatched to fire alarms north of Estevan at a residential property. Before leaving the station, crews were advised by dispatch that it was a false alarm.
EFRS members were dispatched July 11 to a tractor fire on the Highway 39 bypass. Once on scene, a small fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported. Crews were on scene for approximately 20 minutes before returning to the station.
Firefighters had two calls on July 13. The first was a commercial fire alarm west of the city in the RM of Estevan. Once on scene, it was determined to be a false alarm due to a faulty detection device.
The same day, crews were dispatched to a carbon monoxide alarm in central Estevan. The cause of the alarm was determined to be a leak in the roof above that was dripping into the detection device. No emergency was occurring.
