ESTEVAN — An Estevan man has made two court appearances after he was arrested on several charges during the weekend.

According to the Estevan Police Service, patrol members, along with the Drug/Intelligence Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence.

Charges were read out in Estevan Provincial Court July 7 for Jordan Joseph Allen Hochstien, a 30-year-old man from Estevan. On July 5, he was charged with mischief under $5,000 for damaging property of the Estevan Police Service and uttering threats to cause bodily harm to a police officer.

Additional charges from July 6 were four counts of possessing a firearm for a purpose dangerous to the public; two counts of assaulting a peace officer; and one count each of possession of a firearm contrary to an order, possession of less than 30 grams of a drug (psilocybin) and possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000.

The Crown said it was opposed to Hochstien's release.

Hochstien was remanded into custody and was back in court by phone July 8 in Weyburn. The drug possession charge was stayed at that time. He is still in custody and will be back in court on July 14 in Estevan for a show-cause hearing to determine if he will receive bail.

The charges have not been proven in court.
