ESTEVAN — A local man has been arrested and charged in connection with a theft from an east-end business that occurred in July, Estevan police said on Sept. 3.

The man was processed and released with a future court date in Estevan Provincial Court.

Police are also investigating the theft of cans stored for recycling, reported on Sept. 3, as well as a bicycle that was reported stolen several days earlier.

On the same day, officers investigated the theft of an employee’s jacket from outside a local business. The suspect told police he thought the jacket was garbage. The victim chose not to lay charges, and the man was released with a warning.

Also on Sept. 3, members of the Police and Crisis Team (PACT) were called to assist an individual struggling with mental health concerns. Officers provided support and connected the person with coping strategies and resources.

Police responded to a disturbance at a local motel that night. Three men were involved, and one was escorted from the property.

On Sept. 2, police attended to a woman yelling in a parking lot in the city’s east end. She was cautioned and sent on her way.

Officers also conducted a well-being check on an elderly man after a family request. Police confirmed he was safe and well.

A report of a swerving vehicle entering Estevan led to officers locating the driver, who was sober and cautioned about his driving.

A wallet found in the Walmart parking lot was turned in to police, who are looking for its owner.

Also on Sept. 2, police received toxicology results from a previous impaired driving investigation, showing a driver had high levels of methamphetamine in his system. The man was arrested, charged with impaired driving by drug and released with a future court date.

Later that day, police received a report of a lost cellphone and are encouraging anyone who finds it to drop it off at the EPS detachment.
