Long-time coach, volunteer saluted by Estevan Minor Baseball

Dave Lozinski has been a coach and has handled other roles.

ESTEVAN — Estevan Minor Baseball recognized another of its hard-working volunteers July 25 during the opening ceremonies for the Baseball Saskatchewan U18 AA provincial championships.

Dave Lozinski threw out the ceremonial opening pitch and a sign was unveiled recognizing him on the tower at Lynn Prime Park, where the tournament is happening.

According to a bio that was read out, Lozinski joined the minor baseball board five years ago, but volunteered for years prior. Lozinski and his wife Jennifer have three children, two sons who have been active in baseball and a daughter who plays softball.

"Dave's commitment to sports is remarkable," his bio stated. "He coaches all three of his children, and has led approximately 30 teams over his 13-year coaching career so far."

His leadership was instrumental in organizing the U15 AA team that won the silver medal at the Western Canada Baseball Championships in 2022 in Estevan. He also ran the U11 Estevan Minor Baseball League for several seasons.

He has also been on the executive of the Moose Mountain Minor Baseball League, supporting the growth of baseball in the region and helping young athletes learn the fundamentals of the sport.

The bio noted Lozinski has also taken charge of many electrical and mechanical projects on the baseball diamonds, ranging from small to major.

"He's always stepping up whenever help is needed. Dave is very proud to be part such a small committee, providing some of the best baseball facilities in the province. On behalf of Estevan Minor Baseball, thank you Dave for everything you do," the bio stated.

Lozinski tossed the ceremonial pitch to his nephew Hayden Lozinski, who is a member of the Regina Blue Jays U18 AA team.

Lozinski's wife Jennifer was inducted into minor baseball's wall of fame last year
