ESTEVAN — A man who was wanted by police in Estevan has been arrested.
According to a news release from the Saskatchewan RCMP, members of the Winnipeg Police Service arrested Mitchel Buckle Aug. 19 on his outstanding warrant.
The RCMP says a court date for Buckle has not been confirmed. The initial RCMP news release said Buckle is from the RM of Rockwood, Man.
According to a news release from the Saskatchewan RCMP issued earlier this month, on Aug. 2 at approximately 7:45 p.m., members of the Estevan RCMP were conducting proactive patrols in Lampman. While driving, officers reportedly observed a truck, travelling at a high rate of speed, turn onto Main Street in the town.
Officers activated their vehicle’s emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled and failed to abide by traffic signs in the town.
As a result of continued investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Buckle and he was charged with one count each of flight from a peace officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. Both charges are under the Criminal Code.
Buckle was also wanted on warrants from the Estevan Police Service and Winnipeg Police Service.
