ESTEVAN — A Manitoba man is being sought by police after fleeing from police in the southeast.

According to a news release from the Saskatchewan RCMP, on Aug. 2 at approximately 7:45 p.m., members of the Estevan RCMP were conducting proactive patrols in Lampman.

While driving, officers reportedly observed a truck, travelling at a high rate of speed, turn onto Main Street in the town. Officers activated their vehicle’s emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop. The RCMP says the truck did not stop; instead, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and failed to abide by traffic signs.

As a result of continued investigation, 25-year-old Mitchel Buckle from the RM of Rockwood, Man., is charged with one count each of flight from a peace officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. Both charges are under the Criminal Code.

A warrant has been issued for Buckle’s arrest. The Estevan RCMP continues to work to locate and arrest Buckle, and  they ask members of the public to report sightings and information on his whereabouts.

The RCMP describes Buckle as being 5'11" tall, weighing 180 pounds, and having brown hair in a buzz cut and blue eyes. He also has a tattoo of a female’s face with a mask on his upper right arm and a scythe on his left hand.

Buckle is also wanted on warrants from the Estevan Police Service and Winnipeg Police Service.

The Estevan RCMP asks anyone with information on Buckle's whereabouts to contact police immediately by calling 310-RCMP. Information can also be submitted anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
