SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN — According to SaskPower, nearly a dozen communities in southeast Saskatchewan were affected by a power outage on Aug. 19.

In a message on its X account at 12:03 p.m., SaskPower said its crews were dispatched and were determining the cause and repair time for the outage. A message 35 minutes later said electricity had been restored.

Affected communities, according to SaskPower, are Antler, Carlyle, Carnduff, Oxbow, Fairlight, Maryfield, Wawota, Parkman, Gainsborough, Redvers and Glen Ewen, along with all surrounding areas.

In an email, SaskPower media relations said approximately 9,500 customers were affected. The outage was caused by a transmission line trip, but the Crown corporation added the root cause is unknown. SaskPower was able to re-energize the line and it has held.
