Photos and video: Energy City Ex. opens, draws big crowds

Midway, rodeo, quilt show and agriculture pavilion all drew lots of people.

ESTEVAN — The 2025 edition of the Estevan Exhibition Association's Energy City Ex. kicked off June 13, attracting thousands of people to the fairgrounds.

The biggest draws of the night were the midway, with rides and carnival games supplied by West Coast Amusements, and the rodeo sanctioned by the KCRA at the Graham Collie Rodeo Arena. (Rodeo photos to come later). Other highlights included a quilt show in the exhibition hall and the agriculture pavilion in the Wylie-Mitchell building.

Local students had the opportunity to tour the farm displays on June 12 and 13, giving them the chance to learn more about the industry.

Food trucks and booths were also popular during the evening.

The SMILE Services Estevan Parade was held in the afternoon.

The midway will open at noon on June 14. The rodeo had a slack performance at 8 a.m. and the main show will be at 6 p.m. Wild pony rides will happen during the rodeo intermission.

The agriculture pavilion and the quilt show will also be open again.

Additional highlights for June 14 will include the King of the Prairies open steer and heifer jackpot show at 1 p.m. The annual cabaret is slated for 9 p.m. at the indoor rodeo arena, with FogDog as the entertainment.

A tug-of-war tournament is scheduled for June 15 at 1 p.m. in the rodeo arena. Teams of five will be entered, with divisions for men, women and teens.

SaskToday will continue to have coverage of the Energy City Ex.
