SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN — The recent precipitation in southeast Saskatchewan has forced the cancellation or postponement of a few events.
The Estevan Motor Speedway has revealed that its program slated for Aug. 9 has been cancelled. The event was supposed to have races from all five of its classes – modifieds, hobby stocks, stock cars, sport modifieds and slingshots – as well as a special appearance by winged sprint cars.
"Due to the large amount of rainfall, and impending forecast, we regrettably are cancelling tonight's race," the speedway said on its Facebook page.
The Woodlawn Regional Park's Summer Fun Fest at the Boundary Dam Beach Site has been postponed. The park said on Facebook that it hopes to reschedule the event for later this month. Games, food and children's activities were planned.
Earlier in the week, the annual Manor Motor Magic event, scheduled for Aug. 8 and 9, was cancelled. The event is a stop for the Prairie Pulling League, which has truck and tractor pulls.
