Update: Thunderstorm warnings lifted; massive hail reported

Another day of severe thunderstorm activity in the southeast.

SOUTHEAST SASKATCHEWAN — For a second day in a row, areas of southeast Saskatchewan are under severe thunderstorm warnings or watches. 

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for a number of RMs in the region. 

As of 6:33 p.m., the storm was located bout 25 kilometres southeast of Corning, and was moving towards the northeast at 30 kilometres per hour.

Environment Canada reported that at 4:39 p.m., spotters found tennis ball-sized hail with this storm system. Then at 5:22 p.m., other spotters saw golf ball-sized hail. 

In addition to the large hail, Environment Canada said the main threat from this storm will be wind gusts of 90 kilometres per hour. 

Environment Canada has also issued a severe thunderstorm watch for communities within 26 RMs. 

According to Environment Canada, conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms across eastern Saskatchewan.
