U18 AA baseball teams in Estevan for provincials

The host Estevan Brewers will look to successfully defend their provincial title.

ESTEVAN — The Baseball Saskatchewan U18 AA provincial tournament is taking place July 25-27 at Lynn Prime Park in Estevan.

Eight teams from across the province are in Estevan for the tournament. They will be divided into two pools of four and will play a round robin, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the playoffs on July 27.

The first games will be played at 1 p.m. on the 25th. Opening ceremonies take place at 4 p.m. Dave Lozinski will be recognized for his commitment to the sport in Estevan over the years. The host Estevan Brewers will play the Prince Albert Royals at 5:30 p.m.

Additional games will be played on the 26th. The Brewers will face the Moose Jaw Canucks at 11:45 a.m. and the Weyburn Beavers at 5:30 p.m.

If a tie-breaker is needed, the game(s) would be played at 9 a.m., followed by semifinals at noon and the gold-medal game at 3 p.m. If there aren't tie-breakers, the semifinals would be at 10 a.m. and the final would begin at 1:30 p.m.

The Brewers are the reigning provincial and Western Canadian champions. They had the best record in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League's U18 AA division at 20-5.
