There are 25 new cases of COVID-19 registered in Saskatchewan on Aug. 15, bringing the total to 1,566. One more person with COVID-19 patient has died. This person was in the South Central zone and was in the 80-89 age range.

Estevan Police Service (EPS) is having a busy end of the week with two arrests and other calls on Friday. Police arrested an Estevan man for possession of psilocybin (mushrooms).

Masks or other kinds of face covering were made mandatory in all Walmart locations all across Canada as of Aug. 12. This safety measure is aimed at limiting the spread of COVID-19.

Thick black smoke spreading over Estevan Friday evening can be seen from miles away. The smoke is coming from the Regens Metals scrap yard. Estevan Fire Rescue Service trucks were seen on their way to the location at about 7 p.m.

Harvest is underway in the region, with some farmers starting to combine and many more desiccating. By Aug. 10, one per cent of the crop was combined and three per cent was swathed or ready to straight-cut.

Thirty more tested positive for COVID-19 on Aug. 14, bringing the total to 1,541. The majority of the new cases, 23, are located in South West region. Others are in the North Central (1) and South Central (6) regions.

I spent another few but painful hours in hospital last week. It turned out to be relatively easy to deal with this time and a shot of morphine helped dull the agony.

The Estevan Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) were called to a wildland fire on Tuesday at about 2 p.m. The fire occurred by the Highway 39 bypass northeast of Estevan right by Bert Baxter Transport yard.

A major storm moved through the Southeastern part of Saskatchewan on Wednesday evening and into the morning Thursday, with heavy rain, some hail and damaging lightning.
