A half dozen eager young artists made their way to the Estevan Art Gallery and Museum around 4 p.m. on April 6 to participate in the first After School Art program offered by the gallery’s educator Martina Veneziano.
The inaugural step into the program saw the youngsters exploring some artistic work on foil, glued to their own artistic impressions.
This exercise gives the young artists an opportunity to not only test their artistic (drawing) skills but also deploy some crafting skills as they worked the glue guns and formed some sculpture-like impressions.
“We’ll be offering these classes until the end of May, or may extend them, depending on the reaction and attendance,” said Veneziano, who was pleased to begin with the six students who quickly got engaged in the class.
“These classes will be offered again next fall for sure,” she added. “The classes provide these kids with a little structure and basic art learning experiences in a relaxed environment. It will give them a chance to explore their artistic interests and develop their talent,” the educator said as she monitored the pencil sketches and glue-gun operations while dispensing advice and encouragement.
The classes offered each Wednesday are about an hour and a half duration.
The EAGM art programs this spring and summer will offer printmaking, art journaling and pinterest challenge classes as part of their regular programming.
