Two upcoming fundraisers will be held to support a group of 12 fiddlers, from the Stoughton-Forget area, who will be traveling to Cape Breton Island in October to attend the Celtic Colours Music Festival.
‘TUNED IN’ is the name of this group of young musicians from ND, MB, SK and AB that have all met through their connections to Michele Amy (KLKP) and Donna Turk who are fiddle teachers that live in Forget. The group is fundraising by spreading their talents for dances and concerts at any place or event that they can entertain at. Michele, Donna and Jacqui Walbaum have been accompanying this group along the way. During the Celtic Colours Music Festival, the young fiddlers will be filled with a fabulous experience of education through lessons and events led by many talented professionals from around the world.
There will be an Old Tyme Fiddle Dance in Corning on Saturday, September 23. It will be held at the Corning Community Hall from 8 to 11 p.m. Cost is $15 per person and $50 for a family. All proceeds from the Old Tyme Fiddle Dance will be used for the Celtic Colours trip.
There will also be a Walltree Groove family concert fundraiser, held at the Weyburn Public Library on Sunday, September 24, at 2 p.m.
