The Helen Davidson Music Award committee recently announced that Emily Richards (oboe) and Morgan Sidloski (piano) are receiving $2,000 each to further their music education, as they were chosen as recipients for the 2017 scholarship.
The presentation of the scholarships will be held at the Tommy Douglas Centre, along with a recital and reception on Friday, June 23, at 7 p.m. These musicians are very involved in the community and at Weyburn Comprehensive School.
Helen Davidson was a 50-year member of the Registered Music Teachers Association and taught piano in Weyburn for 70 years. She was an avid supporter of the Music Festival and has enriched the lives of many in this community and beyond. Davidson was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served as organist and choir director for over 60 years.
