Roy Chuckry shows off a working model of a pumpjack, set up in front of his home on First Avenue NW. He spent about six months on and off making the model, which uses a barbecue motor for the pumping action, with a chain drive and real ball bearings for the moving parts. The pumpjack pumps at seven strokes a minute, which matches a life-sized version. Roy has worked as a machinist and in welding for most of his life, and worked on the model as a way to keep busy.
