On August 23, Weyburn Police Service were called to a report of an unconscious male on the walking path behind New City Gardens. The male was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested and lodged in cells until he was sober. No charges were laid.
Also on August 23, officers attended a local residence to help diffuse a family dispute. The matter was resolved without incident.
Further on August 23, Weyburn Police Service received a complaint of an erratic driver on Qu'Appelle Street. The complainant provided a SK license plate number but it was not valid. Further investigation resulted in a suspect vehicle being located and the driver warned.
On August 22, WPS responded to a complaint of a noisy party at a northeast residence. The occupant was spoken to and the noise was reduced and no further complaints were received.
Also on August 22, police responded to a noise complaint at a southwest residence. That occupant was also spoken to and the noise was reduced without further complaint.
Further on August 23, WPS received a report of a tree falling on a car parked on Scott Street. Officers attended to the scene and city public works crews also attended to clean up the debris.
On August 20, Weyburn Police Service received a call from the Estevan Police Service regarding an erratic driver heading Weyburn's direction on Highway 39. Officers located the suspect vehicle just east of the city and the driver was charged under the Traffic Safety Act.
Also on August 20, police attended to a local residence regarding a domestic situation. A 22 year-old male was requesting assistance dealing with his ex-girlfriend as she was currently outside and he feared she may damage his property. The situation was mediated and the female left without incident.
Further on August 20, Weyburn Police Service members were called to assist RCMP officers who advised they had received reports of a partially-clothed female acting erratically outside in the Navou Trailer Park. The female was reportedly dancing on the highway, laying under a camper trailer, and running around the trailer park. The female was not immediately located but further investigation revealed her identity and she was later spoken to.
On August 19, police responded to a report of a vehicle colliding with a fence on the east side of Weyburn. The vehicle had fled the scene but witnesses were able to provide police with information that lead to the vehicle being located. An adult male was charged with dangerous driving.
Also on August 19, police attended to a local residence to deal with a family dispute between a parent and a male youth. The situation was mediated and police are working with the family to provide further community resource for assistance and support.
Further on August 19, the Weyburn Police Service attended to a local residence after receiving a report that the female was threatening self harm, and had made references to having a rifle.
The 48 year-old female was found to be intoxicated and was taken to the hospital for an assessment.
On August 18, while on patrol, an officer checked a vehicle parked in the Signal Hill area. The three occupants of the vehicle, two adult females and one male youth, were found to be in possession of marijuana and charged accordingly. The youth was released into the care of a parent. The two adults were released and will appear in court at a later date.
Also on August 18, officers attended the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving a semi and car near the intersection by 7-11. Although there were no injuries, the investigation revealed the car was exiting an alley and could not stop due to poor brakes. The driver of the car was charged under the Traffic Safety Act.
Further on August 18, while on patrol, Weyburn Police Service members were dispatched to their own office to assist an RCMP officer with an unruly adult male. The male was upset over a traffic ticket he had received. Weyburn Police Service officers recognized the male and were able to calm him down. No further charges were laid.
Also on August 18, officers responded to a 911 call reporting an impaired driver at a local gas station. The call indicated there were children in the vehicle. Officers arrived and found an intoxicated 34 year-old female that had driven to the gas station with two young children. The woman was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired/over .08. She was later released to appear in court at a later date.
On August 17, Weyburn Police members responded to an alarm at Haig School. Upon arrival officers noticed one of the entrance doors had been forced open. A 23 year-old male was discovered in a vehicle nearby. EMS was called to attend as the male had suffered a cut to his leg. Further investigation resulted in the male being arrested and charged with mischief and possession of break and enter instruments. He was released to appear in court at a later date.
