Several police and fire vehicles have been on site at Canadian Tire in Estevan on Saturday, but it’s not for a scene call emergency.

The annual Stuff the Trucks Toy Drive is happening from 1-5 p.m. Members of the Estevan Fire Rescue Service, the Estevan Police Service and the Estevan RCMP are participating in an effort to encourage people to support the Community Hamper Association’s Angel Tree program.

The public is encouraged to purchase a toy or make a cash donation.

Derek Young and Signal Direct is supplying a trailer for the toys to be placed. Those toys will then be included in the Toy Store later this month, when hamper recipients with a child or children can drop by to select a toy for each child.

Fire Chief Dale Feser said the fire department has been holding toy drives for a number of years, and they look forward to partnering with the police departments on the initiative to support local families.

Saturday is also the deadline to submit a request to receive a hamper through the Community Hamper Association.
