Another new case of COVID-19 has been diagnosed in the southeast, but it's not in Estevan's zone

For the second straight day, there is a COVID-19 case diagnosed in the southeast region, according to the Ministry of Health. The case is from Southeast Zone 3, which is the southwest corner for the zone, and includes Weyburn.

For the second straight day, there is a COVID-19 case diagnosed in the southeast region, according to the Ministry of Health.

The case is from Southeast Zone 3, which is the southwest corner for the zone, and includes Weyburn. A case from Zone 2, which is the northeast corner, was revealed on Sunday.

The Estevan area is in Zone 4.

These were the first two cases in the southeast in more than a month.

There have been 13 cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in southeast Saskatchewan since the pandemic was first diagnosed in Saskatchewan nearly six months ago.

There are 11 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Sept. 7, bringing the total to 1,662 reported cases. There are two new cases in each of the far northwest, Saskatoon and central west regions, and single cases in the central east, southwest, south central and southeast zones.  The location of one of the cases is pending.

Of the 1,662 reported cases, 58, or 3.5 per cent, are considered active.

One more person has recovered, bringing the total to 1,580 recoveries, or about 95 per cent of those diagnosed.

One person is in hospital in intensive care in Saskatoon.

Of the 1,662 cases in the province, 252 cases are travellers, 834 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 491 have no known exposures and 85 are under investigation by local public health.

Sixty-seven cases are healthcare workers; however, the source of the infections may not be related to healthcare in all instances.

A total of 278 cases involve people 19 years of age and under, 540 cases are in the 20-39 age range, 505 are in the 40-59 age range, 281 are in the 60-79 age range, and 58 are in the 80-plus range.

Fifty-one per cent of the cases are females and 49 per cent are males.

Twenty-four deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported to date.

There are 427 cases from the south area, with 218 in the southwest and 196 in the south central, in addition to those in the southeast.

As for the rest of the province, 355 cases from the far north area (349 far northwest, six far northeast), 275 cases are from the Saskatoon area, 268 cases are from the north area (131 northwest, 71 north central, 66 northeast), 203 cases are from the central area (166 central west, 37 central east), and 133 cases are from the Regina area.

To date, 150,737 COVID‐19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. As of Sept. 5, when other provincial and national numbers were available from the Public Health Agency of Canada, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 107,241 people tested per million population.  The national rate was 153,795 people tested per million population.

A total of 1,861 COVID-19 tests were performed in Saskatchewan on Sunday.
