Current and past students of the Weyburn Junior High who have painted ceiling tiles at the school will now be able to pick them up before the school closes for good at the end of June.
The ceiling tiles will be available for evening pickup June 21 from 3-7 p.m., June 22 from 3 to 8 p.m., and on Thursday, June 23, from 4 to 6 p.m.
The ceiling tiles are available for those who painted them, or a friend or family member can pick them up on their behalf.
There will be a table in the foyer at the Fifth Street entrance, by the main office, and people can provide assistance in locating and removing the ceiling tiles. There be a record kept of who picks up the tiles.
There will be no charge for the ceiling tiles, but donations will be accepted, and any donations received will go into developing a scholarship fund for WJH students who go on to graduate from the Weyburn Comp.
The school will also hold a garage sale during this time to sell items which will not be moving over to the Comp.
The Grades 7-9 classes will move to the Comp for the new school year in September, and the long-range plan is for the Weyburn Junior High building to be demolished.
Virtually every ceiling tile in the school’s hallways has been painted by students going back several years, plus nearly every wall surface in the school is painted with murals by art students.
