As of today, the City and RM of Estevan have instituted a burn ban.
According to Shane Code, Fire Rescue Services Chief for the City of Estevan, the bans are a response to extreme weather conditions, including high heat and low moisture levels in the area.
The ban includes open flame burning, fire pits, campfires, and fireworks. Fire pit permits are suspended as well, to conform to the requirements of the ban.
The extremely low humidity and high heat are expected to continue throughout the weekend.
