Cadets prepare for Remembrance Day with Poppy Campaign

Members of the Weyburn corps of Army Cadets gather with their commanding officer at the city’s cenotaph in Memorial Park just prior to setting out Saturday morning to begin selling poppies for the Royal Canadian Legion, in preparation for Remembrance Day on Tuesday, Nov. 11.

From left to right are L/Cpl. Lashes White, Cadet Karson Daley, L/Cpl. Keita White, Officer Cadet Melanie Boyle, having a poppy pinned on by her son, Cpl. Dustin Weger, Cadet Kieran Ricard and Cadet Wyatt Hoimyr.

The Cadets will be taking part in the parade and wreath-laying on Remembrance Day, starting with the parade at 10:45 a.m. to the cenotaph, the laying of wreaths and two minutes of silence, followed by the service inside the Legion Hall upstairs, and then the War Mother’s luncheon downstairs in the Vimy Room, in honour of War Mother Lauretta Schmidt.
