Emilie Spillebeen, an exchange student in Weyburn from Belgium, helps her host mom, Marie Grainger, to make some Christmas goodies, as she joins in with family activities and learns about Canadian culture. These treats are something new for Emilie, as she pointed out Belgians generally don’t munch on these at Christmas time, while here “they are everywhere”. Emilie will be with the Graingers when they spend Christmas at Banff, Alta, enjoying the Rocky Mountains. For related feature story check out the December 24, 2014 issue of the Weyburn Review.
