The Canadian Cancer Society’s updated Jail-N-Bail is bringing orange jumpsuits and fun forensics to Weyburn at the City Centre Mall on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
“It’s the kind of quality entertainment that can only be found when a cheap pocket novel makes its way to the small screen and back to real life,” said Sophie Pitman, the event organizer.
Jail-N-Bail is a fundraising event that involves putting otherwise respectable citizens in a special jail, and giving them the opportunity to raise pledges or “bail” from their co-workers, friends and family.
The updated event is based on television crime dramas, cheap pocket novels and other modern characters like paparazzi.
Every citizen can arrange for the arrest of their boss or co-worker, or make an acting debut as a judge, detective, prosecutor, defense attorney or prison guard.
“Join us in character and draw your inspiration from any of the respected crime drama performances,” said Pitman.
“We are currently looking for participants to get arrested. If you or someone you know is guilty of leaving work early to go golfing, operating a tongue without a license, or working too hard and making the rest of us look bad, give us a call and we will arrange a time for arrest,” she added.
