Kick off the Christmas season with the community and join the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce 24th annual Parade of Lights on Thursday, December 7 at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to enjoy the decorated floats in the parade while enjoying a warm beverage sponsored by McDonald’s.
“This is the second year that we are asking residents and visitors to not park along Third Street. We really want everyone to get into the holiday season, and we believe this will add to the atmosphere,” said Twila Walkeden, Weyburn Chamber executive director. This beloved night-time parade begins at the Weyburn Fair Grounds, and will proceed down Prairie Avenue to Third Street, and along Railway Avenue to Second Street. The parade attracts great crowds coming every year, so come and grab a viewing spot early.
The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce has also spoken to many downtown retailers who will stay open late after the Parade concludes. This will give residents an opportunity to get their holiday shopping done, collect stamps for their Holiday Passport and drop the passport off at Expressions Ladies Wear before 9 p.m.
The draw for the Holiday Passport will be on December 8 at 2 p.m. at Expressions Ladies Wear. This initiative is a great opportunity to check out these amazing stores that Weyburn offers, and spend your money where you live.
The Chamber of Commerce received word from an elf that a special guest will be in attendance. Santa Claus will be the Grand Finale of the Parade.
For more information on the Parade of Lights, residents can contact Twila Walkeden, executive director, at the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce office.
